Dreaming the scene

Yeah I do this a lot.  Lie down for a good nights sleep and wake up because a scene is stuck in my head.  Now that can be a good thing if it is in the tale you are currently working on right?  Well Yes and now.  I got part of a scene from the current book and part of a scene from the sequel.  Whoops!

Once was have our yearly inspection done I plan on doing a little baking and a lot of writing.  Getting the heroes out of the house they are in will be tricky.  Can’t go outside for 10 hours unless they want to be eaten by the hordes of ravenous Nightmares running about.  Hey I just realized I have a whole set of monsters but not a single actual Nightmare in this.  Hmmm.  Guess I could have one, after all a horse with flaming mane, tail and hooves would be interesting in a end of the world type tale.  Don’t want to go over board though.  AFter all the story is about how Avendale is trying to control Jeffery and take over the world.  She has done it before and is rather upset it isn’t working out the way she wanted.  Poor Villain.

Okay a little more neatening up before the super shows up and then I can sit back and write my fingers off.  Sold another story last night.  Glad I was to see Passing the Torch getting a download.  I posted that one up in May and it had downloads from the free promo but none after.  So maybe the other two from back then will see movement right?  Oh wait All Hallows all ready has.  That leaves Night and Day.

The smut is doing well with free promo copies being downloaded in all the countries on my kindle list.  That is nice.  Had 125 as of 6am.  So it is working.  Now to hope for some reviews and of course paying customers.  This week has been a banner week so far with three downloads.  That is better than I had been doing.  So who knows maybe people are noticing my little worlds.

Thursday thursday

Okay so that doesn’t work as well as Monday Monday but hey I never said I was a song writer.

Last day of the free promo for Hope Everlasting.  I am hoping it will top 200 downloads which would be cool.  That and hoping for a few reviews.  Haven’t gotten any new ones in a while.   It would be nice to have a couple on each of my books.  After all there are readers who actually read reviews before they buy the books, so having a review or ten would help right?  So far on Hallows has five reviews.  Everything else is in the one or four.  Well those that have reviews.   Tomorrow Partings will start a two day promo that will finish up its five days.  KDP does 5 days of promo for a 90 day period, if you enroll the work in KDP.  I obviously have two books that can’t be exclusive to KDP.  The Knight Protector is Smashwords and I think the coupon on that one is over and of Course Endings is over on Kobo..but I am thinking of delisting it over there since it isn’t really coming up in the searches over there.  I will have to think about it for a while.

I have quite a bit of notes to type up on Chaos War and more bouncing around my head.  Be good to get them all typed up and maybe get to the needed step to rounding up that section of the story.  Where it is going will make me have to do a bit of rewriting on the second book, No Matter the Distance.  I am trying to decide whether or not to change the actual timeline a bit.  I started this story at the end of the 90s so the millennium had not taken off.  Now 12 years later I am not sure referring to the end of the millennium is a good idea.  Dates the story but it is also part of it.  I will decide sometime this month obviously. It would be a really good thing to actually put this story to bed by the long holiday weekend.  And I mean Labor day.  I still haven’t remembered the Canadian version name.

Doing a read through what I have and I realized that I haven’t really described my three main characters.  The villain, Avendale I have pretty much covered but I have only lightly alluded to my three heroes.  I will have to expand that in the story I think.  Just so people have a visual idea the differences in them.  Once the first book is done and we move to the new one that is set 15 years later it helps to understand the changes in the characters.  The second book is darker with the coming final battle and all.  But the things that are coming out about Jeffery has changed a few things.  Getting him to tell me his back story is hard.  A very difficult thing with a man who doesn’t know his true self.  A very deep character I think.  And yes by the end of the series he will remember who he really is.  Not who Avendale told him he was but who he was before she found him.

Okay time to type, to take pics of the birds in the backyard and feed the brat

Happy Civic holiday or what the heck is this?

After two years in Canada you think I would be used to the holidays but well?  Today is a civic holiday called Civic holiday.  Basically it is a day off for those who work in offices I think.  I know my hubby has to work today as do his friends, so is it really a holiday?  I don’t know.

Well the free promo of One More All Hallows Eve did really well.  One day promo had 173 downloads and one review.  That story now has five total reviews, all four and five stars.  The new one wanted more Harry…which of course is what the other free promo was.  Hope Everlasting is the second story in the Guardians of the Gate City series and it isn’t dong too bad either.  So far 92 downloads and I gave it a full week so by the end of the week I expect to see more downloads and hopefully a review or three.

I decided that August is going to be my free month for sure.  Obviously had Hallows up and have Hope up but next week I plan on putting Partings up for two more days, then well have Sacrifice up for three days and finally that attempt at breaking into a different genre with Distance (my erotica) going up for free the 20th through the 24th.  Here is hoping it will get some notice and maybe some actual sales.

Been working on the Chaos war like a good doobie.  This is definitely going to be a longer tale.  The first part is all ready past 30 pages in word.  Now I found out that the page length in word does not translate to an exact amount of pages on Kindle.  8 pages at 14 point font is 14 pages on the kindle.

I usually type at 10 point and then adjust when I go to publish.  I do want to finish this story.  I started it back at the turn of the century!  Yeah that was a while ago.  Not the longest it has taken me to write a story, we know that but it needs to get written.  After all I have so many other stories to write, publish and sell.  Well hopefully sell.

I love the encouragement I get over on the amazon MOA discussions.  The men and women over there are really a great resource for an indie writer.  Most of us have been writing for a long time but actually putting those stories up for sale?  It is harder than people think.  In this world of instant gratification it is still hard to wait to see a sale come in. With Amazon you get a nice little report you can pull up any time to see how the downloads are going.  Yes they are slow but it has been only been since April right?

My traditional published book, Gates, I sent an email to my publisher to find out how I could get a report to see how well my efforts were working.  Well you don’t get to find out for a YEAR.  Yes I said a YEAR!  Okay I wont get upset.  After all Gates is just one of the books I put out.  People have bought it yes.  After all it has a ranking in both ebook and paperback.  So I just have to be nice and patient.  I will just focus on writing and promoting and hoping I actually sell enough to pay one bill sometime this year.

Okay I should probably type up my notes on Chaos from last night and then figure out how to get the next important scene set up.  When writing a short you can really just dump the reader right into the scene but a longer story needs set up and that takes time.  I don’t think I will ever write something over 200 pages but you never know.

free downloads, new words and heat with humidity

Yup another Sunday and it is still humid as heck.  I was hoping to wake up to a nice cool morning that would help me feel up and ready to write.  Nope, hot, humid, sticky…just plain icky..but I wont let it stop me!  I must write after all.

Now per the part of the title about freebies.  I decided that Hope Everlasting has been overlooked.  So it is up for free for the next five days.  And in case anyone didn’t get a chance to read One More All Hallows Eve it is free today.  So two of the Guardians of the Gate City tales for free.  It is a good thing.  Once I get some photos of Sandy Pond I can put together the cover and trailer for A Watery Grave.  Three tales in the same world.  This is a good thing.

My book trailers have started having some notice.  Which is nice.  After all I made those to help entice people to try reading my tales.  I know I had one sale because of the trailer for Ice.  With the heat people are enjoying the images of snow and ice for sure.

Chaos war is moving along.  Not as fast as some can write but we know I write in my own weird way.  Spent the part of the night that my brain would not shut down trying out different ways to have Jessica separate from the guys long enough for the Vamps to grab her.   Not sure I am going to find a way that will not involve magic of some type.  The guys are more than hyper vigilant at this moment.  I only have the few months between Greg getting cursed and the next section of the book to get her taken down under again.  It will wok out.  I am glad I kept Master Tachi around as a ghost though.  Need a wise old man in this story.  Gives me a place to add in little things that the Warrior should know but doesn’t.

Now the Warrior’s back story is starting to fill in.  When I made up Jeffery I hadn’t thought about just what he was.  He was a construct.  Now he is getting history, a vague one thanks to all the magic wrapped around him but one none the less.  Poor guy wants to remember but he can’t.  Between destiny and Avendale’s messing with his head it will take a lot for him to remember who he was before Avendale found him and used him.

Okay time to dig out stuff for the coming yard sale and to fill in missing parts, maybe even make a trailer for Endings..and if I can do something not porny for Distance…we will see.

A cooler morning

Well it is morning.  Been morning way too long.  Got woke up pretty early today.  Sorta expected the call and visit but 3am?  Relly?  You think they could wait till 6am at least.  Yes it was the authorities coming over to give us an update on what happened to my brother in law but really they just gave my honey some paperwork and a computer link.  so really..3am?
Well means i will be tired as heck come this evening so I should probably get what writing I can done today along with a possible video or three.

My oldest nicely said she would go to Sandy Pond and take pictures for me.  Now this might seem an odd request on my part since I take photos all the time of the creek nearby but it is the focus of the story I am working on right now.  So some images are necessary for the book trailer.  It should be nice and odd if a tad topical.  Ever since reading about the man who drowned there I have had this story swirling in my head and now more than half written.  Gonna be glad when I have this one finished.  It is a good story just coming at a difficult time to focus.
Now Ice is up for free for real today.  A couple of nice people actually paid for copies before the free days. I wish I could send them a big thank you for that.  Anyone who reads my work is a wonderful person, those who review even nicer and those who actually pay for it?  Whoa…gotta be happy for that.  Sales are few and far between at the moment but then I have only just started this after all.
Okay time to decide to do something other than sit here and rub my head.  Going to be an off day for sure.

free downloads and new covers

Well as of 8:30am EST Partings has had just over 100 downloads.  Not too bad.  Actually had one woman tell me that it made her cry.  She was nice enough to recommend some other tags for it too.  Now to just wait for her review to show up on amazon.  I swear reviews take forever to show up.  I like that she said she gave me a 5 star review.  Just a fun little story, one that worked out to four pages on the kindle. If I can keep getting people to read who knows right?  I have anther 15 stories not counting the Loralil books that I can post up for readers.  Course they all need covers and trailers.

I have been working on a cover for Ice, a Echoes of Elder Times short story.  It is actually a simple pleasure to just take my photos and make them into a cover and trailers for my work.  They come out rather simple and nice.  I know people have really liked the cover for Partings and Hope Everlasting.

Well I will finish up Ice and then sit down and do some actual writing on A Watery Grave.  The Mari-morgens are being difficult.  They want to have the take down before I planned on it.  This one may end up shorter than Hope.  We will see.

As for the for real world..OMG a 3 month old baby!  How could that madman shot a little baby in a movie theatre?  That is soooo wrong.  The heat needs to break down south.  So many crazy people doing things that maybe they would not have if it wasn’t for the heat.

OMG reviews and new kindle

Okay two posts here the same day..why?  Because my publisher has put Gates: One reality to the Next into kindle format and it is on Amazon for $2.99!  Yes a complete collection ready for people to read.  Which is good right?

Then a really nice guy read and reviewed my short One More All Hallows Eve…and gave it five stars!  Oh my I wasn’t expecting that.  Plus the free download is moving along nicely…over 100 downloads and we still have two full days.  Plus I just looked and I actually have sold three copies of Passing the Torch…my goodness it is happening.  Okay I am not selling like the preferable hotcakes but it is a start.  Who knows I might actually have an audience!  Okay back to being the silent writer type.
