I have been working as an indie author for two years now. Time does fly. Unlike some of my author friends, my impact on the reading world is not that great. It could be my odd genre choices, it could be that I just don’t have the marketing needed or it could be that people don’t want to take a chance on me. I do my best to think that it is not because my tales are not worth reading.
I do get positive reviews, which is essential for writers. I have had a couple of clunker reviews but most of those who actually read my books seem to enjoy my odd tales.
Over the weekend I went through and worked up the numbers over the past two years. They are not as good as I would have hoped but they do show a glimmer of hope right? Here they are:
Total breakdown April 2012 – May 2014
total published titles, not including anthologies
biggest selling title so far
The Traveler 40 total
total downloads of free copies
story with most free downloads
A Barain made with Fur 743
total reviews all sites (some duplicated)
titles with no sales or reviews
titles with no reviews
36 (including poetry and erotic)
23 (not including poetry and erotic)
titles with most reviews
One more all hallows 9
Now you can see that some things do better than the others. I have stopped offering my work for free (excepting the two fan fictions of course) and I still get a trickle of interest in my tales. In fact I found a new review this morning so I am not totally down with these numbers.
I plan on continuing to offer my tales for the reading public to hopefully find and enjoy. I am not the best author but I do have tales worth reading.
